No Less Lovely is a memento-mori twist revering how imperfect effort is still worthwhile, while also commenting on another human action threatening many species today: harvesting wild, and pristine, specimens for specimen collecting.
And imperfect specimen is proof that it likely was gathered ethically, either found deceased in the wild in true “Vulture Culture” fashion, or allowed to life out a full, natural lifecycle in the care of a breeder. Pristine specimens were either captured alive - illegally in the case of rare or endangered species - or killed once grown to ideal preservation size.
The frayed but nonetheless beautiful luna moth cradled in an ambiguous human hand in No Less Lovely urges us to be mindful of how our actions affect the lives around us, and to treasure effort to make the world better, no matter how patchwork.
